How to translate a PDF on your Android phone
By Toolverse Labs, makers of PDF Tools · · 2 min read
Quick answer
To translate a PDF on Android, open PDF Tools, go to Tools → Translate, choose the PDF and the language to translate into, and tap Translate. Read the result page by page, then copy it or save it as .txt.
A letter from an office in another state, a product manual, a lease in a language you read slowly: PDF Tools translates the text of a PDF right on your phone.
Steps to translate a PDF
- Go to Tools → Translate and choose the PDF.
- The source language is found in the text. Choose the language to translate into.
- Tap Translate. The first time, the language pack downloads once.
- Read the translation page by page; turn on Show the original to compare.
- Tap Copy text or Save as .txt.
Translate English to Hindi and back
Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil and dozens of other languages are available, as well as English. Each language downloads once; after that translation works offline and the text never leaves your phone.
Good to know
- The translation is shown as text; the layout of the PDF is not kept.
- Machine translation can be wrong. Check names, numbers and anything legal with a person you trust.
- For a scanned PDF, run Make searchable first.
